Suspected rebel wanted for attempted murder nabbed in Sorsogon


LEGAZPI CITY — A suspected communist rebel wanted for attempted murder was arrested in Matnog town in Sorsogon province on Monday afternoon, report said Tuesday.


Police Major Jabesh Napolis, l Matnog police chief, said Jose Amante, 50, was arrested in Barangay (village) Sua at around 5:45 p.m. by police armed with arrest warrant issued by Judge Adolfo Fajardo of the regional trial court branch 55 in Irosin, Sorsogon, dated March 26, 2018.

Napolis said Amante was a member of Militia ng Mayan (People’s Militia) of Komiteng Probinsya 3 under Jose Maria Estiller group.


He was also ranked No. 8 in the list of wanted criminals in Matnog.
