Son of slain activist seeks DOJ’s help

/ 04:33 AM April 27, 2021

The son of murdered activist Jose Reynaldo “Jory” Porquia on Monday pleaded with Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra to help their family secure justice for their slain father, whose execution-style killing in Iloilo City nearly a year ago has remained unsolved. Lean Redino Porquia went to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila to personally deliver his letter asking Guevarra to order a special body tasked to probe extrajudicial killings to include the case of his father in its investigation. The elder Porquia, 58, was reportedly Red-tagged by the local police shortly after he started community kitchens that provided free cooked meals to those affected by the lockdown.
