LUCENA CITY –– A construction worker in Lucban town in Quezon province was injured after a fellow worker stabbed him over a heated argument on who has the better singing voice between them.

Lucban police report said Elmer Monares, 26, stabbed Robert Raterta, 35, around 7 p.m. Sunday inside the construction barracks at the Southern Luzon State University compound at the town outskirts.

Monares reportedly went to the barrack’s kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and stabbed Raterta twice on the left arm.

The report said the duo, both drunk, had argued over who sang better before the stabbing incident. The report said the victim and the suspect just came from a birthday party with a videoke singing session.

The wounded victim was taken to a local hospital, while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police.
