PNP COVID-19 death toll rises to 53
The Philippine National Police recorded on Saturday its 53rd death from COVID-19. Gen. Debold Sinas, chief of the PNP, said on Sunday that the latest victim was a 54-year-old lieutenant assigned to the PNP maritime group, based in Camp Crame. Sinas said the policeman was hospitalized on April 14 and was scheduled to undergo hemodialysis from April 21 to 23 for his comorbidity but was unable to do so due to his unstable blood pressure and low oxygen level. He died on Saturday. As of Saturday, the PNP has recorded 19,536 confirmed cases of the virus, with 2,065 active cases. But 17,418 have recovered while 53 have died.
