SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — An orphanage in Olongapo City was hit by coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after a 20-year-old resident of the shelter had contracted the virus, an official said on Saturday, April 24.
In an advisory, Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the woman was immediately isolated, although other orphans and staff in the center have been displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
It was not immediately known how the woman contracted the virus.
She is among the nine new COVID-19 cases recorded in the city, Paulino said.
As of Saturday, Olongapo has 147 active COVID-19 cases out of the 1,399 total infections recorded since last year.
The city also registered 1,190 recoveries and 62 deaths related to COVID-19.
