Suspected rebel killed in Masbate clash

LEGAZPI CITY — An alleged communist rebel was killed in a clash with the government troops in Milagros town in Masbate on Sunday morning.

Masbate police said in a report that while conducting major internal security operations, the 1st Police Mobile Force Company of the province had a 10-minute gunfight with at least 10 members of the New People’s Army in Barangay (village) Jamorawon around 6:10 a.m.

A body of the still unidentified rebel, a revolver, and a hand grenade were recovered in the clash site.

No casualties were reported on the government side.

A hot pursuit operation was launched by police against the other rebels who escaped after the clash.
