The leadership of the Philippine National Police gave assurance to the Supreme Court of its commitment to help stem the violent attacks on judges and lawyers, which prompted members of the legal profession to seek the intervention of the 15-member tribunal. In a statement, the high court said Gen. Debold Sinas, the PNP chief, and other senior police officials spoke with the justices, led by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, in an online meeting on Thursday. The high tribunal has denounced the assaults against lawyers and members of the judiciary. “Both institutions committed to continue working together consistent with their mandates for the betterment of the Filipino people,” the high tribunal said.
