TAGBILARAN CITY—For the second time, work at the Bohol provincial capitol was suspended on Friday (April 23) for disinfection after several workers were infected with SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
Provincial Administrator Kathyrin Pioquinto said the provincial health office would disinfect all offices at the capitol.
Regular capitol operations will resume on Monday (April 26).
At least 29 employees have been infected with the virus as of Friday, said Dr. Yul Lopez, of the Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19.
Most were assigned to the general services office, provincial treasurer’s office, and the provincial accountant’s office.
Last January, the provincial capitol was also closed after seven workers got infected with SARS Cov2.
As of April 23, Bohol has a total of 2, 275 COVID-19 cases with 1,669 recoveries and 36 deaths.
In Tagbilaran City, residents were required to wear face masks and face shields when entering the city hall, any government offices and public markets.
Violators face a fine of P3,000 to P5,000 or imprisonment of up to six months.
