163 patients beat COVID-19 in Quezon province, active cases down to 999

LUCENA CITY –– Quezon recorded 163 patients who beat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday, the highest single-day recovery record in the province.

The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) reported at 5 p.m. Thursday that the 63 recoveries outnumbered the 61 new COVID-19 cases.

The newly healed patients brought down the current number of active cases in the province to 999 from 1,156 on April 18.

From March last year until April 22, Quezon, now under general community quarantine, recorded 8,457 recoveries (86 percent) out of 9,830 COVID-19 cases.

The overall figures from April 1 to 22, however, showed more infected than recovered persons. The IPHO recorded 1,195 recoveries as against the total new cases of 1,686 during the same period.

The IPHO recorded 825 new cases in March and 342 in February.

The COVID-19 death toll in the province jumped to 374, with five more patients in Mauban, two in Guinyangan, and one in Lucena City on April 22.

The IPHO records showed that 89 COVID-19 patients died this April. In March, the province recorded only 28 fatalities.
