MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila has so far deployed over 74,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said Thursday.
“74,000 plus ang vaccines deployed (There are 74,000 plus vaccine doses deployed), and about 3,900 second dose,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel.
According to Moreno, there were also over 100 bedridden residents of Manila who were also inoculated through the local government unit’s home service vaccination.
He said there are seven to eight teams doing the home vaccination service over the past two weeks.
“We have been doing that despite na wala talaga kaming bakuna, ‘yung aming mga natira, pakau-kaunti, pailan-ilan ay ni-utilize namin in a way that it will address members of society na baka lang makalimutan ng estado. So it is our second week now,” he said.

Moreno said there are also requirements for bedridden patients to be vaccinated.
“Marami ang listed but there is a requirement that needs to be fulfilled, like for example clearance ng doctor, pangalawa ‘yung pagpayag ng pamilya, and so far, out of 400 plus initial list ng Manila, naka-isang daan na ang pumayag kaya naka-isang daan mahigit na kami for the past two weeks,” he said when asked how many bedridden residents have been vaccinated so far in the city.
(There are many individuals listed but there is a requirement that needs to be fulfilled, like for example the clearance from a doctor and the permit from the family. So far, out of the 400 plus who were included in the initial list, around 100 have been vaccinated for the past two weeks.)
Meanwhile, Moreno noted that there is a slight change in the number of COVID-19 cases in Manila following the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified ECQ put in place in the NCR Plus. He added, however, that the number of cases in the city is still “alarming.”
