RAMON, Isabela –– The Magat Dam here has been discharging 200 cubic meters per second of water through a meter-long gate opening in anticipation of heavy rainfall caused by Typhoon “Bising.”
As of Wednesday noon, the reservoir was at 189.36 meters above sea level (masl), according to Engineer Carlo Ablan, acting dam and reservoir division manager of the National Irrigation Administration-Magat River Integrated Irrigation System.
The dam’s spilling mark is 193 masl.
But the water discharge barely raised the levels of the Cagayan, Magat, Pinacanauan rivers, and other water tributaries.
The province has been experiencing occasional moderate rains and gusty winds since April 19.
A liquor ban and a “no fishing/no sailing” policy had been enforced in the area. INQ
