Drug suspect yields P2.5M shabu in Quezon buy-bust

LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a big-time drug pusher and seized a total of P2,550,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Monday night, a police report said Tuesday.

Colonel Ericson Dilag, Quezon police chief, quoting a report from Major Francis Aldrich Garcia, Candelaria police chief, said anti-illegal drugs operatives nabbed Mark Delfin Sarmiento, 23, after selling a pack of shabu to a police agent that acted as a drug user in a transaction in Barangay Malabanban Sur around 9:30 p.m.

Authorities seized 24 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 125 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P850,000 and worth P2,550,000 in the street market.

Police are conducting further investigation to determine the source of the illegal drugs.

The suspect was detained at the local police jail and is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On April 16, the police also busted two big-time drug suspects and seized a total of P3,178,400 worth of shabu in Tayabas City.

In Lucena City, the police also arrested two suspected drug pushers in sting operations on Tuesday and Monday.

Lt. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, identified in a report the suspects as Darren Lloyd Lapitan, 21, and Marvin Arambulo, 29.

The police collared Lapitan in Barangay Mayao Crossing around 12:25 a.m. April 20, while Arambulo was nabbed in Barangay Ibabang Dupay earlier.

The suspects yielded 11 plastic sachets of meth worth P34,900.
