Aerophone forces rubbermatch in Jr. CBA

AEROPHONE refused to back down from the championship challenge as they forced a do-or-die Game 3 in the Jr. Cebu Basketball Association best-of-three finals after defeating  Family Appliance Inc., 74-68, in Game 2 last Friday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.

With their backs against the wall, the University of San Carlos cagers, who compose the Aerophone squad, bounced right back after the Game 1 loss to even the series up at 1-1.

They had their defense to thank for the crucial victory as they held Family Appliance’s  Lyle Sumayang to a 13-point output, a far cry from his huge 34-point performance in Game 1.

Aerophone’s balanced attack also played a key role in the win as four players submitted double- digit outputs.

Anthony Romaguerra led the winners with 17 points while Mike Rita and John Saycon each tallied 12. Jerry Seno also chipped in 10.

With Sumayang out of sync, Alfred Sedillo picked up the scoring cudgels with 15 markers while Luther Huevos added 10. The loss was only Family Appliance’s second of the tournament./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
