MANILA, Philippines — Former President Joseph Estrada may be transferred to a regular hospital room this Monday, his son, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.

According to the younger Estrada, his father, who is celebrating his 84th birth anniversary this Monday, is “doing well” since he was brought back to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to bacterial lung infection.

“He is doing well since he was brought back to the ICU. The doctors have been updating me regarding his medical condition. His blood pressure has already stabilized. His kidney function has already improved,” he said in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel.

“According to his doctors, he might be transferred today to an ordinary room, their regular room,” he added.

The former lawmaker said the vital signs of the Estrada patriarch are already normal.

“All his vital signs are already normal. ‘Yung kanyang oxygen flow is already normal, wala na siya sa high flow. His blood pressure has already been stabilized. Sabi ng doktora, he can be transferred to a regular room today,” he added.

On Saturday, Jinggoy said his father is already “doing better” but remains at the ICU. He added that his father “seems to be responding well to measures to control the lung infection.”

The Estrada patriarch earlier tested positive for COVID-19 but later recovered.

His negative COVID-19 test result was revealed also by his son on April 13.
