LEGAZPI CITY — Six establishments in this city, including schools and government offices, were placed under lockdown on Friday and Saturday after six employees tested positive for coronavirus disease.
The Legazpi City Interagency Task Force on the Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) announced on Sunday that it temporarily closed on Friday the Legazpi City Science High School and Bitano Elementary School in Barangay Bitano; Department of Science and Technology Bicol office in Barangay Rawis; and the Land Bank of the Philippines (2nd floor office) in Barangay Cabagñan West.
Earlier on Saturday, the IATF also closed the Regional Trial Court branches 2 and 7 at the Hall of Justice building and the Bureau of the Treasury office, all at the regional government site in Barangay Rawis.
City Mayor Noel Rosal, Legazpi IATF chair, said the lockdown of these offices and school would give sufficient time for the disinfection of the building and the completion of the contact tracing and testing.
Rosal said that the lockdown would be lifed once the contact tracing and testing were completed.
The closure of the six establishments brings to 14 public and private establishments that were close since last year in this city.
As of April 16, Legazpi City has 83 active COVID-19 cases. The city recorded 591 cumulative cases, 489 recoveries, and 19 deaths since the pandemic started last year.
