MANILA, Philippines — The eastern portions of Visayas and Mindanao may have begun to feel the impact of Typhoon Bising even though it remains outside the country’s landmass, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
As Bising continues to move west, its trough is positioned to hit the Caraga Region and Davao provinces, which means that these regions may start experiencing cloudy skies and isolated rain showers by Friday night, Pagasa added.
By Saturday morning, Eastern Visayas will also see similar conditions due to Bising, especially since it has generated a wide diameter due to favorable conditions for developing into a storm.
However, for Luzon, the cyclone will not affect the island’s weather systems since Saturday’s weather conditions will still be warm and humid.
Temperatures over Metro Manila and Laoag would range from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius, Tuguegarao with 25 to 35 degrees, Tagaytay with 21 to 31 degrees, Legazpi with 25 to 30 degrees, and Puerto Princesa with 25 to 32 degrees.
In Visayas and Mindanao, the eastern portions would have significantly lower temperatures on Saturday as Tacloban would have something around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius, Cagayan de Oro with 23 to 31 degrees, and Davao with 24 to 32 degrees.
In contrast, central and western parts of Visayas and Mindanao would be warmer: Cebu and Zamboanga with 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, and Iloilo with 26 to 32 degrees.
Earlier, Pagasa said that Bising (international name Surigae) was last spotted 895 kilometers east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte.
It moves west at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour (kph) and may be located at around 480 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, by Saturday afternoon.
Bising is currently packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
