Two more cops succumb to COVID-19 as PNP logs 194 new cases

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) COVID-19 death toll rose to 49 after two of its officers succumbed to the dreaded disease.

According to the PNP COVID-19 case update on Thursday, a 50-year old non-commissioned police officer assigned in Police Regional Office 4A died on April 13.

Two days later, a 55-year old police officer assigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the Directorate for Personnel Records and Management who is on Non-Duty Status and was due to retire also passed away.

Meanwhile, the PNP recorded 194 new COVID-19 cases.

The PNP also recorded 215 additional recoveries, bringing the total number of police recoveries to 15,764.

As of April 15, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the PNP is 18,262 with 2,449 classified as active cases.
