MANILA, Philippines — Days after he was declared free of coronavirus, former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada was brought back to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to “bacterial lung infection,” his son former Senator Jinggoy Estrada said Friday.
“We wish to announce that my father had a slight setback last night as his doctors found a super imposed bacterial lung infection,” Jinggoy wrote in a Facebook post.
“He has been brought back to the regular ICU (non-COVID) for monitoring and support of his blood pressure which fluctuated due to the said infection,” he added.
Jinggoy assured that the former Chief Executive, who just recently tested negative for COVID-19, is overall “stable with high flow oxygen support.”
“Once again, we ask for your prayers for his immediate recovery and also to all those infected with COVID-19,” he added.
It was on April 13 when Erap was announced to be COVID-free and was ready to be moved to a regular room from the ICU.
