COVID-19 spreads to 4 households in Zambales town; 17 infected

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Over 20 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were added to the rising number of infections in this province. Most of them belong to the same households in a town, authorities said on April 15.

In an advisory, Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said 17 of the 23 new cases were members of four families in Castillejos town.

He said an 80-year-old woman in Barangay Sta. Maria transmitted the virus to her 84-year-old husband, 43-year-old daughter, and three grandchildren aged 21, 7, and 4.

In Barangay San Agustin, a 64-year-old midwife at a public facility had infected her 26-year-old daughter and two grandchildren aged 14 and 8. Her 14-year old granddaughter is pregnant.

A man in Barangay Nagbunga, who got the virus from his workplace in Bataan, had infected his 34-year-old wife and two children aged 13 and 11.

In Barangay Del Pilar, three family members had tested positive for the virus after getting exposed to two previously infected relatives.

As of Thursday, the province listed 1,509 COVID-19 patients, 242 of them active. INQ
