MANILA, Philippines — Total COVID-19 cases in the country breached the 900,000-mark on Thursday as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 11,429 additional infections.

Data from the DOH showed that there are now 904,285 COVID-19 cases in the country, which include 183,527 active cases.

There were also additional 856 recoveries, raising the number of patients who have recovered to 705,164. However, 148 people have died, bringing the death toll to 15,594 cases overall.

The DOH said active cases now compose 20.3 percent of the total count, while recoveries and deaths make up 78 and 1.72 percent of the tally, respectively.

Of the active cases, 98.8 percent are mild and asymptomatic.

According to DOH, 19.1 percent of the 43,706 people who were tested were found positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

The health department said 24 duplicate entries, including 10 recoveries and one death, were removed from the case count, while 68 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries are now counted as deaths after validation.

Seven laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System on Wednesday.
