Elderly dies of COVID-19 in Olongapo; death toll now at 55

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– The number of fatalities related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Olongapo City has reached 55 after another infected patient died, officials said Thursday, April 15.

In a statement, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the latest fatality, an 88-year old woman, died on Tuesday due to acute respiratory failure, septic shock, and critical pneumonia. Her swab test result later confirmed that she had COVID-19.

The city also recorded six new COVID-19 patients aged 19 to 45. In the previous days, it has been logging five to 15 new cases daily.

The city’s latest health data shows that 1,260 people had tested positive for COVID-19 since last year, and 1,080 of them had recovered.
