Bicol gets more vaccines for medical frontliners

LEGAZPI CITY –– Bicol received on Thursday the fourth batch of anti-COVID vaccines composed of 20,400 vials of the CoronaVac to inoculate more medical frontliners in the region, the Department of Health (DOH) here said.

The vaccines, manufactured by the Beijing-based Sinovac Biotech Ltd., were packed in 17 boxes containing 1,200 vials per box. They arrived at the Legazpi Domestic Airport aboard a Philippine Airlines commercial flight from Manila at 9:47 a.m.

The vaccines were immediately brought to the DOH storage facility in this city for inventory and distribution to the six Bicol provinces, said DOH Bicol public affairs chief Noemi Bron.

The new vaccine allocation would be for the first and second doses of the medical frontliners, as follows: Masbate with 5,280 vials, Camarines Sur with 4,920, Sorsogon – 3,900, Albay – 2,960, Catanduanes -1,900, and Camarines Norte – 1,440.

As of the latest count, the region has received 48,000 single-dose vials of Sinovacs and 22,000 doses of the British manufactured AstraZeneca. INQ
