CITY OF MALOLOS –– A nurse and two provincial government workers in Bulacan province died after they contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), health authorities said on Tuesday, April 13.
Dr. Protacio Bajao, director of the Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC), said Joanna Marie Galvez, 32, who worked in the Baliwag District Hospital, died while being treated at the National Kidney Institute.
Florence Abiog, 27, a cameraman of the provincial public affairs office, was pronounced dead on arrival at the BICC on Tuesday, Bajao said.
Abiog suffered mild COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever and cough.
Crisanto Roque, 64, from the City of Malolos and ranking personnel at the Medical and Pharmaceutical Office in the Capitol, died of severe COVID-19.
Roque had been in quarantine since March 22.
Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, Bulacan Medical Center Director, said the three cases were all community-acquired infections.
Earlier, two Capitol field employees also died of COVID-19.
Bulacan’s COVID-19 cases have now ballooned to 21,876, with 567 deaths and 17,950 recoveries as of Wednesday.
But Gov. Daniel Fernando said Bulacan’s 4,418 active cases were comparatively lower than those with other areas within the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus Bubble.
