LUCENA CITY –– An 11-month-old baby girl and four other children in San Pablo City in Laguna province have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), health authorities reported on Tuesday.
The infant and the four kids – three boys and one girl, with ages 2 to 10 years old, were among the latest 52 recuperated COVID-19 patients in the city, the city’s Anti-COVID-19 Task Force said in a bulletin issued on April 13 at 6 p.m.
The latest group of healed virus carriers also include two senior citizens, a man and a woman, both 74.
The authorities have also recorded 24 new COVID-19 patients. Among them are three elderlies, aged 61, 65, and 68; and three kids, aged 3 and 8.
San Pablo is under the less strict modified enhanced community quarantine until April 30 to curb the continued rise in COVID-19 cases.
The city has logged 2,005 COVID-19 cases and 1,601 recoveries since the pandemic started in March last year.
The COVID-19 death toll in the city rose to 66 after a 67-year-old woman and 58-year-old man died on Tuesday, a report said.
San Pablo still has 338 active virus carriers, which were only 266 on April 1, indicating the continuous surge of more virus carriers in the city.
San Pablo Mayor Lorenzo Amante has appealed to residents to strictly follow all regulations imposed by the national Inter-Agency Task Force to curb the rise of new cases.
The local government has also been continuously distributing emergency cash aid or “ayuda” to qualified individuals in every barangay affected by the strict quarantine measures.
Last March 30, President Duterte approved a P1,000-worth of in-kind and cash aid to every individual affected by the strict measure. Several members of a family can receive the aid, but only a maximum of P4,000 worth of assistance will be given per family.
