BFAR employee dies after his motorcycle bumped truck in Leyte town

ORMOC CITY –– An employee of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Tacloban City died after his motorcycle bumped a mini dump truck at 7:10 a.m. on Monday, April 12, along the National Highway in Barangay Abango, Barugo town, Leyte.

Captain Luis Hatton, chief of the Barugo Police Station, identified the fatality as Rogelio Mondido, 50.

Staff Sergeant Sergio Llaneta III, the case investigator, said the two vehicles were traversing the same lane from Carigara, Leyte to Barugo when Mondido maneuvered to overtake the mini dump truck.

The truck, however, also maneuvered to turn to the other side of the road, hitting the victim and his motorcycle.

The victim was brought to the Carigara District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide were prepared by traffic personnel against the suspect, who is temporarily detained at the Barugo Police Station.
