Tuguegarao downgrades quarantine status

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– The city has reverted to the less restrictive modified enhanced community quarantine after being placed under the most stringent quarantine classification for 14 days, authorities said on Tuesday, April 13.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano said in an interview that the regional Inter-agency Task Force on COVID-19 had granted the request of the city government for more relaxed restrictions for seven days starting Tuesday, provided it implements measures to curb coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

The city was previously on enhanced community quarantine.

As of April 13, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city had reached 908, which was higher than the 812 cases reported in March.

“We cannot forever be under ECQ. We must revive our economy,” Soriano said.

At least 385 COVID-19 patients were forced to isolate at home as hospitals have been in full capacity. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
