DSWD distributes relief goods to victims of quake
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed relief goods to residents of Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental who were severely affected by the 6.9 magnitude quake on Monday.
In a Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report, DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman, was quoted in saying that P5.7 million worth of relief goods have been distributed to victims in Negros Oriental. She added that they are still trying to reach far-flung areas that were affected by the strong quake.
Likewise, the DSWD also launched the cash for work program for the quake victims.
Authorities estimated that at least 71 people were buried in landslides that covered 80 houses in two barangays (villages) in Guihulngan City and the adjacent La Libertad town.
