59 COVID-19 cases: Zambales’ new daily record-high

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—The province on Sunday (April 11) logged 59 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), its highest single-day tally since the pandemic began in 2020, officials said.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said most of the new cases involved workers and residents of the towns of Iba and Botolan.

The number of new cases surpassed the province’s highest tally of COVID-19 cases in a single day, which was recorded in August last year when an outbreak hit the Masinloc power plant.

On Sunday night, the provincial health office announced that it would temporarily stop posting the daily tally due to a surge of new cases to allow them to verify the data.
