BACOLOD CITY—The city government will continue to enforce a curfew from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. and was likely to stay on modified general community quarantine as no request has been made to change it.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he gave orders to police, village officials and Task Force Disiplina, headed by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, to strictly enforce the curfew and a ban on consumption of alcoholic drinks in restaurants, hotels and eateries after the 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. window.
“We are asking the general public to report any violation. They may do it anonymously,” he said.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson recently ordered a province-wide curfew from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. effective on Monday (April 12) to curb the surge in COVID-19 cases.
Bacolod City, however, was not covered by the order since it is a highly urbanized city.
Leonardia said Bacolod has also not asked for a change in its quarantine status from modified general community quarantine to the stricter general community quarantine.
“We are monitoring very closely the COVID-19 situation. This will depend on how things will develop,” Leonardia said.
Bacolod City currently has 456 active COVID-19 cases.
