LUCENA CITY — Batangas health authorities on Sunday, April 11 recorded 10 more fatalities from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bringing the total death toll in the province to 542 since the pandemic started last year.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO), in its 3 p.m. April 11 bulletin, listed four deaths each from Batangas City and Lipa City and one each from San Luis and Taysan towns.
The latest data showed that 178 patients have died due to the illness since January. At least 61 of them died from April 1 to 11. Last year, the province recorded 364 COVID-19 deaths.
Batangas City has the highest number of fatalities with 102 followed by Lipa City, 101.
Batangas, still under general community quarantine (GCQ) status until April 30, logged 18,369 COVID-19 cases since March last year, with an addition of 82 new virus carriers on April 11. At least 14,445 of them have recovered.
The province still have 3,382 active virus carriers. At least 334 of them are confined in different hospitals; 841 in temporary treatment and management facilities; 116 in isolation facilities; and 2,091 on home quarantine.
Lipa City has the highest active cases with 816, followed by Batangas City with 389.
The province still has 1,984 active “suspects” cases and 53 “probable” ones.
