MANILA, Philippines — The country’s average daily deaths from COVID-19 in the first 11 days of April was already at 41, or few cases shy of the rate recorded for the whole month of March, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The health agency’s Epidemiology Bureau director Aletheia de Guzman said during Monday’s online Palace briefing that the average daily COVID-19 deaths for the entire March were 46.
“Sa ngayon, ang ating average deaths per day para sa Marso ay nasa 46. Sa April 1 to 11 ay nasa 41. Hindi pa natin naaabot naman ‘yung peak na nakita natin noong Agusto [2020] at 68,” de Guzman noted.
Based on DOH’s data, a total of 447 deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded from April 1 to 11.
The data also indicated that on average, the National Capital Region had 18 deaths from COVID-19 every day so far this month while Calabarzon had six, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had five, Region III had four, Region II had three, and Region VII had two.
