Former Pangasinan mayor passes away

DAGUPAN CITY – Former Bayambang town Mayor Leocadio de Vera passed away at dawn on Saturday at the Bayambang community hospital.

The cause of his death had not been established, but a rapid antigen test showed he was positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

He had not been swabbed for the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test so he was classified as a “probable” COVID-19 fatality.

De Vera served as municipal mayor from 1998-2007.

Councilor Amory Junio, his close friend, said he was scheduled to be buried at the Hands of Heaven Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon. YOLANDA SOTELO
