CITY OF ILAGAN –– Fourteen people died from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Isabela on Thursday, the highest single-day record of the province since the pandemic began, authorities said.
Local health data shows that the fatalities were aged 40 to 70 and had ailments when COVID-19 infected them.
The province now has 181 deaths related to the disease since last year.
Gov. Rodolfo Albano III said in a statement that the dead patients’ kin would get aid from the provincial government.
“There is no wound deeper than losing a loved one like this. We remember and pay our respects to all Isabeleños who have been afflicted by this terrible scourge. We mourn every life taken by this deadly virus. They will always be remembered for their love and courage,” he said.
The province also recorded 199 new COVID-19 cases on the same day. INQ
