Commissioner’s Cup imports: battle of the big men

/ 08:03 AM February 08, 2012

THE PBA COMMISSIONER’S Cup is expected to be a showcase of heft and height as the 10 imports that have been picked by their respective teams try to strut their stuff and conjure memories of past dominant imports such as Cyrus Mann of Crispa and Andy Fields of Toyota.

The Commissioner’s Cup unfolds this Friday at the Araneta Coliseum with teams being able to pick reinforcements of unlimited height.

This conference’s crop include two seven-footers such as Adam Parada of Alaska and Chris Alexander of Brgy. Ginebra. There also imports with impressive credentials such as former NBA first round draft pick Dermarr Johnson of Barako Bull Energy and other NBAers such as Jelani McCoy of Meralco, Nick Fazekas of Petron, Marcus Douthit of Air21 and Dwayne Jones of Powerade.

The rest of the imports are Duke Crews of Rain or Shine and Omar Samhan of the defending champions Talk ‘N Text.

The search is on then for the dominant, truly big man import to stir the imagination and draw gasps of exclamation from the public, who had been held spellbound through the years by some of the most breathtaking guard-forward showmen. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
