PH so far administers 922,898 COVID-19 vaccine doses

MANILA, Philippines — The number of vaccine doses administered in the country has so far reached 922,898, the Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday.

Of the total, 872,213 (64%) have been administered as the first dose while 50,685 (3.7%) have been administered as the second dose.

DOH said 77% or 1,936,600 of the available 2.5 million vaccines in the country have been distributed across 2,670 vaccination sites.

So far, the government has been vaccinating healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities, which are at the top of the COVID-19 vaccination priority list.

The Philippines is expecting two million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines this month, according to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

Of the doses, 1.5 million will be CoronaVac vaccines which is developed by Chinese drugmaker Sinovac Biotech while 500,000 will be Sputnik V vaccines developed by Russia’s Gamaleya Institute.
