9 more die from COVID-19 in Batangas

LUCENA CITY –– Nine more patients in Batangas province died from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday, bringing the death toll to 498.

The Provincial Health Office reported on April 5 the deaths of five COVID-19 patients in Batangas City, two in Lipa City, and one each in Tanauan City and Calaca town.

The latest data showed that 134 patients have died due to the illness. Since the start of 2021, at least 17 of them died from April 1 to 5. Last year, the province recorded 364 COVID-19 deaths.

As of April 5, Batangas, which is still under general community quarantine (GCQ), had 16,858 COVID-19 patients since the pandemic started in March last year. At least 13,657 of them have recovered.

Batangas City has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the province with 2,924, followed by Lipa City, 2,377, and Tanauan City, 1,696.
The province still has 2,703 COVID-19 patients.

Batangas has 1,758 active “suspects” cases and 47 “probables.”
