Brod killed saving sibling
A 37-year-old garbage collector saved his brother before dawn Saturday from being stabbed by a foe but got himself killed instead in Manila. Dan Reyes, of 1372 Cristobal Street in Paco, died while undergoing treatment at the Philippine General Hospital from a stab wound in the left side of his chest. His alleged attacker and neighbor Fidel Alegria fled. PO2 Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section said Dan’s younger brother Daniel was playing poker with Alegria at a funeral wake. Alegria lost and blamed it on Daniel. A heated argument ensued between the two. Daniel decided to go home and told Dan what happened. While they were talking, Alegria arrived and swung a knife at Daniel. Dan intervened, but was stabbed in the chest. Jeannette I. Andrade
