Nueva Vizcaya gov, 4 execs test positive for COVID-19; prov’l capitol on lockdown

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya –– Gov. Carlos Padilla has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and was on quarantine in a private hospital.

Padilla announced his condition on Monday, April 5, adding that he has experienced only mild symptoms.

“My swab test result came out only today, but I have been quarantined for three days already since I was swabbed,” he told the Inquirer.

He asked those who came in contact with him to undergo quarantine.

Padilla also ordered the lockdown of the Nueva Vizcaya provincial capitol and its Ammungan capitol grounds until April 8 to give way to disinfection.

Aside from Padilla, four other local officials in the province had contracted the virus: Mayor Dolores Binwag of Quezon town, Mayor Pepito Balgos of Bambang town, Vice Mayor Philip Dacayo of Solano, and Vice Mayor Ruben Sayo of Aritao.
