Rumohr family offers P1M reward for info on killers of relatives

MANILA, Philippines — A family whose members have become victims of killings in Calbayog City, Samar, and Manila is offering a P1 million reward to anyone who can provide information on the people behind the killings.

Ovarah Rumohr, a relative of the victims who were ambushed in separate incidents from 2018 to January this year, said they are ready to give the reward to anyone who can provide them with verified information behind the deaths.

Atty. Levi Baligod, the lawyer for the Rumohr family said in a statement on Sunday that the series of ambushes “clearly shows that the motive is to wipe out the family.”

Land and business disputes could be the root cause of the killings, according to their camp.

In April 2019, Vicky Rumohr, a dentist, was shot dead in Calbayog City.

Later in January this year, her brother Harry Rumohr was also gunned down in Calbayog.

Ovarah is the niece of Harry and Vicky.

According to Baligod, attempts on the lives of Ignacio and Henry, Ovarah’s brothers, were also made in March this year and sometime in 2020, respectively.

Aside from the P1 million reward, the family said they are also willing to give a huge reward to the killers if they will surrender to the police and identify the mastermind of the crimes.

“To those who agreed to be used as guns for hire and to their handlers, we are asking you… you will be traced by law because there is CCTV footage that will be revealed soon. Instead of suffering, we beg for your compassion. We know that poverty is the reason why you agreed to do the job,” Ovarah said.
