110 beds added to Quezon Institute for COVID-19 patients — Palace
MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Saturday announced that 110 beds have been added at the Quezon Institute in Quezon City to accommodate more COVID-19 patients.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, during his briefing on the extension of the enhanced community quarantine in Matro Manila and in four nearby provinces, said the beds will be for patients with moderate and severe cases.
The Philippines has 165,716 active COVID-19 cases after 12,576 new cases were recorded Saturday by the Department of Health.
“Pagdating doon sa ating health capacity, na kinakailangan natin talagang pataasin, mabuting balita po dito po sa linggo na karagdagang ECQ ay mayron po tayong 110 additional na moderate to severe beds na bubuksan na po at magiging operational dito po sa Quezon Institute,” said Roque when he announced that Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will remain under ECQ for another week or from April 5 to April 11.

Article continues after this advertisementThe Quezon Institute is under the management of the Philippine Tuberculosis Society and is located along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Quezon City.
The hospital already accommodates 110 COVID-19 patients who are monitored by a 24-hour closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, as per the Department of Health.
Roque said the government will be opening more hospital beds in May to accommodate the surge in COVID-19 cases.
