LPA to bring rains over parts of Mindanao on Black Saturday — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — It’s going to be a rainy Black Saturday over some parts of Mindanao due to a low-pressure area (LPA), according to the state weather bureau.

In its 5 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine, Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was last spotted at 195 kilometers west-northwest of Zamboanga City.

“Mababa ang tsansa nito maging bagyo (This has a low chance of developing into a storm),” weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said of the LPA.

“Dahil sa low pressure area, may inaasahan tayong mga pag-ulan sa ilang bahagi ng Mindanao,” Aurelio added.

(Because of the low-pressure area, we can expect rains over some parts of Mindanao.)

Specifically, the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Zamboanga City.

The rest of Mindanao and Visayas will experience fair weather, but with chances of localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the Easterlies—or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean—as well as the localized thunderstorms.
