The city government has assured the public that food packs and essential kits will be distributed to affected families who would be forced to submit to swab testing and mandatory 14-day quarantine.
On March 8, a memorandum signed by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte stated that the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila “warrants for a more stringent implementation of existing ordinances and issuances.”
It also emphasized the need for the obligatory wearing of face masks and face shields in public places in order to stop the spread of the disease in the city.
Based on the latest data issued by the QC Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU), as of April 2, there are a total of 10,649 active cases of COVID-19 in the city. Meanwhile, 38,056 individuals recovered, while 905 succumbed to the disease.
This brings the city’s total number of validated COVID-19 cases to 49,610. The QC CESU also noted that there are 236,621 suspected cases among those who were contact traced.
