MANILA, Philippines — Known Catholic author and motivational speaker Bo Sanchez has contracted COVID-19 along with “almost everyone” in his family, the preacher confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Sanchez, he is currently showing symptoms of the disease, particularly slight fever and coughs. A lot of his relatives who have been infected too, however, were asymptomatic.
Sanchez further said that he wants to encourage patients who have contracted COVID-19 to speak out and ask for prayers.
“I just received my test results. I have Covid. I have slight fever and cough. Almost everyone in my family has Covid too, though some are asymptomatic,” he said in a post on his verified Facebook page.
“I’m sharing this to also encourage everyone that it’s okay to tell people about it and seek for prayers,” he added.
Sanchez also advised his followers that he would not be making his usual videos during the Holy Week, as he was asked to rest to recover from COVID-19.
“Do you have Covid or your family has Covid? Let’s pray for each other. God is with us. I know this is a difficult time. But with Him by our side, we will overcome,” he noted.
“PS. Before I got sick, I was able to make FULLTANK until Easter Sunday. But I’ll be resting and won’t be able to make new FULLTANK videos for next week. My team will send you other videos to bless you,” he added.
Sanchez is one of the many individuals who have been infected with the coronavirus, as the country faces a surge of cases.
On Wednesday, an additional 6,128 COVID-19 patients pushed the active case count to 130,000 — a surge that is attributed by health experts to the spread of more transmissible variants of concern.
