All beach resorts in Bacolod ordered closed on Easter Sunday to keep COVID-19 at bay

BACOLOD CITY—Mayor Evelio Leonardia  has ordered the closure of all beach resorts at two villages in the city on Easter Sunday (April 4) to slow the spread of SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Leonardia issued the order after meeting with officials of the two villages—Punta Taytay and Pahanocoy—and resort owners on Tuesday (March 30).

“This is just a preventive measure, not a lockdown,” he said.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio  Jose Lacson  on Tuesday also reminded the public to heed all health protocols during Holy Week amid a spike in COVID-19 cases in the province.

“During Holy Week we should thank the Lord for  dying for us and saving us from our sins,” said the governor.

“We  should also hear Mass online instead of going to churches to avoid crowds and prevent the spread of COVID-19,” he said.

“Travellers during Holy Week should be mindful of their activities and seriously observe minimum health protocols,” Lacson added.
