MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto to settle down when the pandemic is over? Not!
Social media were abuzz with talks about a photo quote claiming the sought-after bachelor chief executive of Pasig City purportedly said he was planning to marry after this global health crisis is ended – and that he prefers a social worker as a bride.
But the handsome mayor absolutely shot it down.
“Fake quote,” he said on Twitter late Tuesday night.

Sotto was responding to a tweet from a curious netizen who asked him to fact-check a photo quote of him which says: “Girls, maga-aasawa ako after this pandemic. Gusto ko sana social worker, baka may kilala kayo ipaalam agad sakin.”
(Girls, I will get married after this pandemic. I prefer a social worker, if you know one let me know.)
The spotlight was on Sotto as soon as he launched his bid to take on the old political power in Pasig City and more so when he successfully clinched the mayoralty in 2019. His good looks and intellect – which he apparently obtained from parents Coney Reyes and Vic Sotto – had many girls screaming and giggling. Thus, his love life – aside from his promising political career – has been a constant hot topic.
In a visit to the Senate on March 1 to receive a commendation for his “outstanding leadership” in Pasig City, even leaders of the upper chamber of Congress teased him about his love life.

Sotto had already been quizzed about romantic matters in 2019. He was asked back then if he was seeking to be in a relationship, to which he simply replied: he has no time.
