PANDI, Bulacan –– More than 44,000 families in this town have started receiving food packs as part of the 10th wave of aid from the municipal government that began at the onset of the pandemic last year.

Mayor Enrico Roque, who introduced the contactless distribution of relief packs using chairs placed at doorsteps, revived the practice as the province shifted to the strictest enhanced community quarantine during Holy Week.

Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, and the National Capital Region make up the so-called NCR Plus bubble, a containment zone to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The entire NCR Plus bubble is on enhanced community quarantine from March 29 to April 4.

All the employees of the Pandi municipal hall have prepared the 44,044 relief bags since Monday.

Roque said residents would again receive canned goods, noodles, mongo beans, and rice until Thursday. INQ
