Jogging, biking, exercise-related activities allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. under ECQ

MANILA, Philippines — Jogging, biking, and other exercise-related activities are allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Malacañang said Monday.

However, this must be done within the vicinity of the individual’s residences or within their barangays or communities, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said.

“Pinapayagan ang pag-ehersisyo mula 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. within the vicinity of your residences at sa inyong mga barangay,” he said in a Palace briefing.

(Exercising is allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. provided that it is done within the vicinity of your residences and your barangays.)

“Importante po talaga ang exercise, hindi kayo pinagbabawalan pero huwag naman kayo lalabas doon sa komunidad ninyo o doon sa barangay ninyo. Huwag kayong lalayo dahil masisita kayo,” he added.

(Exercise is important. You are not being prohibited to do so but don’t go out of your community or your barangay. You will be apprehended.)

He said going to parks or other places, such as Luneta Park, to do some exercise is prohibited.

Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna were placed under ECQ starting Monday until April 4 due to the surge of COVID-19 cases.
