BAGUIO CITY — One died while two others were hurt in two separate road accidents in La Union province on Saturday evening, police said.
The fatality was identified as Emmanuel Llobera, 41, a resident of Barangay Sipulo in Bacnotan town.
Police said rider Llobera was crossing the highway in Barangay Poblacion when he was hit by a car driven by Quintin Cortez, a resident of Sta. Cruz town, Ilocos Sur, around 9:30 p.m.
The victim succumbed to multiple injuries while the driver was taken into police custody.
Less than an hour later in Balaoan town, a minor and his companion identified as Reden Mon, 18, sustained injuries after they were hit by a truck while on board a motorcycle.
According to police, the two victims were not wearing safety helmets during the accident.
Mon, who was riding at the back of the motorcycle, was in critical condition, police said.
