LUCENA CITY — Thirty-two new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases were recorded in San Pablo City on Saturday, March 27, bringing the total number of cases in the city to 1,545 since the pandemic started last year.
Among the new validated virus carriers are two female senior citizens aged 66 and 69, and a six-month-old boy, according to a report from the city’s Anti-COVID-19 Task Force posted on social media. The city now has 204 active COVID-19 cases which were only 66 on March 1.
As of March 27, the city also recorded a total of 1,291 recoveries and 50 deaths due to COVID-19.
San Pablo, as part of Laguna province, is now under the stricter enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting March 28 to April 4 to curb the continued rise of COVID-19 cases.
In his video message on Sunday night, Mayor Lorenzo Amante advised the residents not to engage in panic buying.
“Ito po ay maaring lalong maglapit sa inyo sa posibleng pagkakahawa sa mabangis na virus. Totoo at seryoso ang banta ng virus,” he said.

He assured the city folk that the public market, grocery stores and supermarkets will remain open and there is no need for the public to use their quarantine pass to buy essential needs.
But “religious gatherings are not allowed,” Amante said.
He reminded the residents to strictly follow all regulations being imposed by the national Inter-Agency Task Force under the ECQ.
