Roque refuses to confirm reports of looming ECQ
MANILA, Philippines — Palace spokesman Harry Roque on Saturday refused to confirm reports that Metro Manila and nearby provinces will be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.
“Can’t confirm,” Roque told INQUIRER.net in a text message when asked about Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla’s social media posts that his province will be placed under ECQ.
In the now-deleted Facebook post, Remulla said that Cavite will be under ECQ from March 28 to April 4.
Meanwhile, Malacañang also announced that Roque is set to make an official announcement of the latest Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) on Saturday, 6 p.m.
Currently, Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal were placed under a general community quarantine (GCQ) bubble from March 22 to April 4.
